A day of action to show support for victims of a sexual assault on campus at Texas A&M

The Texas A & M University student senate on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution condemning sexual assault, but not the actions of the university’s President.
President Joe Alwyn issued a statement Tuesday in which he called the sexual assault at the university “a despicable act of violence and harassment, and it must stop.”
Alwyn, a Republican, has been in office since 2016 and was previously accused of sexual harassment by several women, including one who claimed he groped her in his office and another who claimed Alwyn made unwanted sexual advances towards her.
He has denied the allegations.
Alwyn said that he will remain in office until his resignation is accepted by the student senate.
Alwyn has said he was “unable to do anything more than express the deepest sympathy” to the victims of sexual assault.
