Africa says the U.S. and other countries are making false claims about its climate change policy

More than a year after President Donald Trump announced that the United States would withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, Africa is calling on the Trump administration to clarify the Trump Administration’s commitment to the agreement.
Africa, which hosts one-fifth of the world’s people, and the United Kingdom have already withdrawn from the pact, while countries in Central and South America, the Middle East, and parts of Africa are considering joining.
Africans President Muhammadu Buhari said Tuesday that the U, which is facing a severe drought and floods, must also take the lead to protect its people and protect its economy.
The U.N. chief, Antonio Guterres, said on Tuesday that African nations have been “shocked” by the U’thans withdrawal, which comes at a time when the continent faces its worst drought since records began.
The United States has not provided the world with a comprehensive accounting of how it is spending its resources to address the impacts of climate change.
